Upcoming Tennis Court Resurfacing and Maintenance

Tennis Court Resurfacing & Maintenance Notice

We are delighted to be working with Emerald Sports to resurface courts 5, 6, 7 & 8 using a surface called Tiger Turf Advantage PRO. Tiger Turf is the number one tennis surface in the UK, is also recommended by Tennis Ireland and has been laid in over 200 clubs in Ireland over the last 5 years including Fitzwilliam, Castleknock, Ashbook & Leopardstown.

Manufactured with shock-absorbing characteristics that reduce the risk of injury and stress to the body, the surface is designed not to shine when wet or under floodlights, reducing the risk of slipping and has also been tested to International Tennis Federation (ITF) standards.

Due to the soft cushioning underfoot, the courts are easier on your hips and knees than hard courts. The surface is also extremely durable, with no loss or breakdown of fibre even after heavy use resulting in a longer life expectancy than any other product.

Immediately following this work, courts 1 & 2 will undergo a complete rejuvenation which will restore them to nearly new condition. This sand content will be topped up & we can expect these courts to drain much more efficiently in wet conditions. The court drainage and condition will be guaranteed for 3 years by the maintenace contractor once this work has been done. A similar job on courts 3, 4, 9, 10 , 11 will be considered once the condition of courts 1 & 2 has been assessed.

As a result of this work, courts 5, 6, 7 & 8 will be out of action from Wednesday 8th October to Sunday 19th October and courts 1 & 2 out of action for 1 week from 20th October .

We appreciate this will put pressure on the remaining courts, particularly as we will be in the middle of floodlight league, but we do ask that members bear with us and exercise patience if there are queues during this period.

All court requirements/maintenance will be made available on the website so you can check what is happening on any given day when planning your game.
