1, 2 & 3 at Irish Junior Open 2014- DENIS DOMINATES!
With 14 Mount Pleasant Juniors doing battle over the weekend at the Irish Junior Open, we had again some impressive results.
The outstanding performance from Denis Gilevskiy was the highlight. Denis, one of our most exciting squash prospects, at only ten years old, took the honours in the U13 boys final beating Belgian, Harold Castiaux.
3-1. Denis got of to a nervy start, managing to win the first game, but lost the second, however early in the third game he had had settled down to take control of the match. There was no doubt after that.
Scott did well to reach the final in U15. He had a tough passage, meeting 3 top Scottish players on the way. Although he was the more positive player in the final, his opponent Conor Moran, from Sutton, played a very steady containing game, he must be credited with sticking to his task, many players would have collapsed with fatigue. Unfortunately in his eagerness to play more decisive shots, Scott's touch let him down, albeit marginally, he made too many unforced errors and finally ran out of road.
The next notable performance came from our rising female star, Brenda Lee. Brenda was knocked out at the semi-final stage but won her battle with Irish team place rival, Roisin Kirwan, convincingly, 3-0.
Matthew Li, reached the quarter-final stage with a 'Harry Houdini' like escape against Polish opponent Aleksander Fordonski
