Griffin and Scott Gillanders have won the Ladies and Mens Club Championships. Griffin defeated Suzanne Swan 3-0. The match may have finished differently had Suzanne pressed home an advantage in the 2nd and 3rd game where she manage to get a run of points half way through both games. 

Griffin currently doing the Leaving Cert. is not at all match fit and was gratetful that the match didn't go to a fourth game. Griffin has won 3 out of the last 4 Club Championships. Scott and Kevin Davey played out a thrilling final. Scott started the match at a high tempo, taking the ball very early and giving Kevin no time to settle into a rhythm.  However Scott could not keep the pace up in the third and Kevin matched him all the way taking the 3rd and 4th game. The 5th started in a similar fashion but Scott was able to pull away half way through to victory,  wining his first Club Championship at 14 years old! This was a great final and both players were warmly appluded by the apprecitative spectators.

 

The Club Championships were a great success with over 180 match played over the month of April. A big thankyou goes to all who organised.
