It is with regret and great sadness that we inform you on the passing of our much loved groundsman Charlie Stone. Charlie joined us 16 years ago after working in Dublin Zoo and worked tirelessly for us at Mount Pleasant in keeping our tennis courts and grounds in top quality condition. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Charlie and he was always at hand to fix anything that was broken both inside or outside the Club.
In particular for Open Week Charlie prided himself in showing off the Club and its’ grounds in all its glory including his much loved hanging baskets and the annual hanging of the flag bunting.
Visiting players during open week always commented how beautiful Mount Pleasant was, and this was largely down to Charlie.
He will be dearly missed by staff colleagues and members and we send our condolences to his family and friends.
As a mark of respect to Charlie and for his loyal dedication to our Club, both the Clubhouse and the Tennis Courts will be closed on Saturday March 25th until 3pm.
