The ever popular Mount Pleasant Open Squash Tournament was held in the Club over the weekend Friday 29th to Sunday 31st January.

Now in its 23rd year, the tournament attracted its largest entry with 90 players travelling from all over Ireland, the UK and Spain to compete. Upgraded to Grand Prix status in recent years it is now firmly established with the leading players as a tournament not to be missed as they compete for places in the Irish national squad.

Arthur Gaskin, ranked 2 in Ireland defeated Derek Ryan ranked 3, 3-0 in the Mens A Final to reverse the result in what was a repeat of last year's final.

In the Ladies A section a large crowd witnessed one of the best matches for some years as Zoe Barr ranked 3 in Ireland overcame Tanya Owens ranked 4, 3-1.

Players from the host club featured in a number of finals with Joan Goreham winning out in the Ladies B section. Congratulations are due to all and the organisers would like to thank everyone in Mount Pleasant who supported the event as well as Leinster Cricket Club for the kind use of their facilities over the weekend.
